The San Diego Computer Society met at the SDCOE, Linda Vista Rd, San Diego, Ca. in Room 309 30 January 2008.... The Meeting commenced at 7:15pm... In Attendance: Josh Penix, Carl Lowenstein, Jeff Ball, Arlene Way, Dick Hiatt and Dave Tooley President Lan Barnes was ill and unable to attend....VP Dave Tooley was asked to conduct the meeting.. Stan Follis - Treasurer unable to attend, had forwarded his report to Dave Tooley previously...the Society IS solvent, the VANGUARD Fund produced a gain of $627 for the year....expenses and income virtually balanced out. TOTAL EQUITY of the Society is $14,755 as of 15 JANUARY 2008 As President Barnes had stated via email that he would NOT seek reelection at the end of this "term", the first item considered was nominations for officers....the following people offered to become officers: Dave Tooley for President Lance Dohe for Vice President [NOTE: Lance offered after the meeting, as he was unable to be present] Jeff Ball for Secretary [NOTE: Jeff had originally offered to be VP, but during the after meeting with Dave and Lance the change was offered] Stan Follis for Treasurer: HOPEFULLY, [as Stan was unable to attend the meeting] Josh Penix agreed to carry on as Webmaster, the Representatives agreed to continue their terms It was agreed that a SUPPLEMENTAL meeting in MARCH [26 March 2008] be utilized to finalize the nominations and other business; to advise the total SDCS membership of recommendations in APRIL prior to MAY elections.. Dave Tooley SUGGESTED that a new fee structure be implemented: $25 FLAT fee for each SIG for each year...the benefit being less monetary demand/burden on any SIG large or small....Josh pointed out that such a change would HAVE to be a BY-LAW change....this was another item to be discussed at the MARCH Supplemental meeting....each SIG Representative would email their members, and report a majority yea or nay of the idea, the Board would then change the by-laws if the vote supported the idea....again to be done before the 2008 elections.. COMPUTEREDGE was contacted to update information....Dick Hiatt had done so for SDPCUG. ComputerEdge do longer publishes a "hard copy" - online only. Supposedly the By-Laws are "on line" at our Website??? [NOTE: I looked this A.M., could NOT find them] Should we put them up for all to peruse? An item brought up AGAIN was the issuance of MEMBERSHIP CARDS.....after discussion, Carl Lowenstein and Josh Penix agreed to work together to turn out a basic card that would be made available to the SIGs....details to follow, hopefully a follow up report at the MARCH Supplemental meeting.
